At the Apple WWDC 2009, our very own Director of Business Development (now CEO) Geraldine was spotted “smackbotting” with Steve Wozniak, Apple cofounder and Dancing with the Stars Celebrity Dancer. This interesting photo was coincidentally captured by NBC News Photographer Jeremy Carroll! A picture speaks a million words…check out the article for yourself!
We had a great time at the Launch Party on Wednesday night. It was great to see all the familiar faces from previous parties throughout the week, not to mention all the new faces we met. Of course we brought our trusty Rock’em Sock’em, and played plenty of rounds with party attendees. Of course smackBOTS also go it’s fair share of play. Probably the most famous person to touch smackBOTS since its release, Steve Wozniak cofounder of Apple got to play a couple rounds of both and loved our t-shirts!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to play smackBots and Rock’em Sock’em!
So here you go, the video recorded LIVE off the TV set in our hotel room at 6.30pm PST June 8th 2009. Sue Kwon, thanks for the interview and picking LeftRight Studios out of the sea of iPhone developers at WWDC.

So with Sunday being so successful, we were hoping for a repeat on Monday. We showed up to the Moscone Convention Center at 9:30am, and the line had already formed way down the sidewalk. Not having tickets, there was no point in standing in line. So we walked up to the front in hopes of talking to people waiting in line, and show off smackBOTS.

The crazy cats over at iPorn also decided to crash WWDC! With us standing at the front of the line holding a bright yellow based Rock’em Sock’em Robots, we caught their attention! If you can’t beat’em, Join’em! So Derek got to play a game of Rock’em Sock’em with scantily clad individual, followed by a very revealing serious of questions, and a “photo opp”…which coincidentally got photographed by a reporter and published on The Huffington Post! Yes you heard it right!

After that scene, and boy was it a scene (!) we headed into the lobby of the convention center. Inside we started talking to people standing around, most had entered the keynote.

Then the UNEXPECTED came! We got an interview with CBS ch5 San Francisco! Which went great, they loved the fact that we were a couple of guys who got laid off and jumped right into running our own business. See next blog entry for CBS 5 TV interview video.

After that the keynote was over, and we got to play some Rock’em Sock’em with some cool developers, and got another great response. Until security threw us out! So we successfully crashed WWDC, and the best part was we got interviewed by CBS 5 News…. now onto the parties!
Our time at the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, California went really well. We had our own “booth” and got displayed in their program brochure. We also met some great people, and got a great response from showing off smackBOTS. But the best part was the live demo we got to show to all the attendees! So our first day in San Francisco was very successful, and we had a great time!
